I think the argument can be made-and rightfully so-that Uncharted 2 has a story that is presented almost flawlessly but one that is unremarkable. Take away the quality of it's combined affects (voice acting, music, action, visuals etc.,) and your left with something that isn't something to write home about. there are other games this past year who's story I found delivered more, Assassins Creed 2 being one of them, but that's just me.
I agreed with you up until that point. It has nothing to do with being American. You may think that about Americans and to some degree it has some truth. But, that's like me saying how Europeans are all cowardly elitists who think they know everything.

But people who are ardent PS3 fans take it to a whole other level. I've seen my share of fanboys, I've been gaming a very long time, since the beginning pretty much, and I've never seen anything like the crap that's going on now.
Your pretty much describing me as well. The 360 has also been my vice since it's launch but as you said, I love my PS3 it offers a different experience that is welcome and appreciated.
There have always been fanboys however, it's just that now they have an outlet to be stupid for the masses to see-the internet. Oh well, what can you do but continue to do your own thing.

MS had a great year. It's not nearly as bad as some of you make it out to be and a big reason the PS3 lineup is being hyped up so much now is because it wasn't very good in the past. We have reached the point in this generation where we will really start seeing some serious advances in the quality of games-regardless of what console you own.
It's taken them awhile, but Sony as of this year, has finally brought their "A" game. I now find myself having equal play time amongst the three consoles as apposed to having 90% of my time on the 360. This is great for gamers because now Microsoft and Nintendo are really going to have to step it up.
It took me a minute to get into it but when I did, I was hooked. I would've chosen AC2 or UC2 personally but it was a well thought out pick and I can respect that. The way I see it, it's just someones opinion. I think people put too much stock into things like this. I find it MUCH more satisfying when the developers themselves give each other awards, that means something.

For me personally, AC2 was a better sequel compared to it's predecessor, which I liked, but was lacking in several important ways.
Uncharted was an excellent game it's first outing so for me they didn't have to do much to impress me for the follow up. Take what already worked very well in the first one and make it better, polish it more. Both games did this, but AC had a much tougher hill too climb in accomplishing said goal and Ubi should be applauded for that.

I think they gave them the awards because they deserved it. For the first time in the PS3's life cycle (with some exceptions like MGS4 and LBP)Sony was able to really compete and a grand scale. It may have taken several years, that's why I waited to get mine, but it was worth the wait and has obviously paid off.

You list games that you haven't played, none of us have, but more importantly you act as if Nintendo and Microsoft have nothing coming out of note themselves in 2010. Are we to believe that in such a hotly contested consumer market the two leading competitors are going to stand by and do nothing? I think a better idea would be to get more PS3 gamers to purchase these games so we have an even fiercer competition that we the gamers reap the rewards of.

It doesn't matter. ODST was never meant to be the the big follow up to H3, that job belongs to Reach. ODST was a game mainly for Halo fans, as was Halo Wars to some degree. I got/get my moneys worth from ODST and HW so frankly I don't see the big deal.
It's funny to watch "gamers" dis other games and consoles only to see that the developers behind said games and consoles get along and look towards each other for inspiration and support. Too bad we can't do that huh.
And it was worth the wait. Not only did I get a game I had waited for a long time, but I was also able to go back and purchase other PS3 games that I had wanted to play like Heavenly Sword (most underrated PS3 game imo) and MGS4, on the cheap. I really enjoy this game. While the campaign was mostly forgettable, it was fun...a lot of fun.
